This year the women's volleyball season dedicated their summer to training and working hard to make this season one to remember.

The women volleyball team’s first game of the season was Wednesday August 29th at 6:00pm. It was a home game and the visitors were Faith Lutheran.

The first team to play was JV and Freshman. JV putting up a fight taking the game to three sets unfortunately losing in the final game 13-15 Faith Lutheran. The freshman team taking home a win with the final score being 25-17.

The varsity roster is stacked with skill making them a real threat this year. The games starting lineup for the game was Sophomore Sydney Tuioti-Mariner setter, Junior Aureana Bernalesas libero, Sophomore Jordyn Emmons outside hitter, Senior Brylie Brewer as middle and Sophomore Faith Smith as middle two, Freshman Brooklyn Slater as outside and Oceana Clemens as opposite.

The ref blew the whistle and the first game of the season began. The girls got on the court filled with game day jitters,

“Game day jitters do go away, you end up getting used to them” Oceana Clemmens (12).

In the first set of the game, both teams fighting to take home the win. The score was 20-18, Liberty was falling behind working their hardest to catch up, but at the end Faith Lutheran ends up winning 25-20.

Entering the second set Liberty is not giving up and fighting to win this set. Our girls start off strong putting up a fighting lead. Sadly the girls could not keep up the fight and lost 25-16. When they entered the third set if Faith wins this set the game is over but if Liberty wins they will take the game all the way to five sets, giving Liberty a fighting chance.

The third set begins, it is not a good start Liberty, falling behind with the score 10 Faith Lutheran, Liberty 1. The crowd is silent, while the JV and Freshman are cheering them on trying to restore hope. Unfortunately, Liberty could not catch up after the downfall at the beginning. The final score was 25-10.

Following this devastating loss starting freshman Brooklyn Slater was asked how do you think you guys did together as a team what are some things your can improve on and she answered
