Five Feet Apart is a heartwarming drama/romance movie starring Haley Lu Richardson as “Stella Grant” and Cole Sprouse as “Will Newman”. Two teenagers in love. Both of which have an illness called Cystic Fibrosis, also referred to as CF.

Stella has been on the lung transplant list for a long time, and is hopeful to get a new set soon. Will is on a medical trial and doesn’t have much zest for life, unlike Stella. When Stella and Will meet, there is an instant spark, although having Cystic Fibrosis can be a life-threatening issue. They have to remain at least six feet apart because if not, they can catch each others germs.

Stella’s personality is bubbly, loving and a little bit of a control freak. While Will on the other hand, is carefree and does what he wants. Stella’s character grows throughout the movie because in the beginning she was a stickler for routines, taking her medication and doing her treatments ritually, but when she falls in love with Will, she realizes that CF has taken a lot of opportunities from her life.

Later in the movie, she comes to the conclusion that CF is no longer going to control her. So she takes one foot off of the six feet boundary. Hence the title, “Five Feet Apart”.

This movie has a recurring theme on the sensitive topic that life is too short. Stella begins to take risks when she learns all that CF has taken away from her. The connection between the couple will bring tears to your eyes. This heart wrenching movie will show you the importance of human touch and not to take life for granted.
